I'm sure the artist got it from here. Especially since "John's Law" was invented for the Atomic rocket site.
Slap of hand to forehead. I didn't know that John's Law was invented for the site, but Atomic Rockets must be pretty widely known, as it well deserves to be, and undoubtedly is where the artist learned the First Law.
How odd to see it converted to miles per second, though!
And then the inventor politely informs me that it is "Jon", not "John". Oops.
I will also note that the artist of that webcomic is noted for having some rather ... [url=http://www.encyclopediadramatica.com/RHJunior]extreme[/url] views.
